Dianetics Video

Thanks to sites like Youtube anyone can watch this video about Dianetics.

The first time I read about the Reactive Mind it was an epiphany for me. Suddenly I could see where the odd ideas and unwanted emotions were coming from. It's tangible and capable of being addressed and handled now. Which is the great news for all of us.

Dianetics

Dianetics is a spiritual healing technology that can help alleviate unwanted sensations and emotions, irrational fears and psychosomatic illnesses (illness caused or aggravated by mental stress).

Dianetics is derived from the Greek words dia, meaning through, and nous, mind or soul. The full definition of Dianetics is what the mind (or soul) is doing to the body.

L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health was published May 9, 1950. It has appeared on 600 bestseller lists and is now translated in 50 languages with 22 million copies sold.

Before Dianetics, prevailing scientific thought held that Man's mind was his brain, nothing more than a collection of cells and neurons. IQ and personality were considered fixed and unchanging. With Dianetics, IQ and personality could be improved. Its effectiveness has been documented in a multitude of case histories over more than half a century of application. >>

One thing I love about the How to Use Dianetics dvd (among many) is how seamless it is. You sit there watching it and you might as well be watching a major motion picture. It is so interesting and so well shot and edited all you have attention on is what you are trying to learn. Concepts I never fully understood in reading the book are so clear after watching this.

Of course it will never replace the book by L. Ron Hubbard. But it adds depth and dimension to the book but presenting it graphically.

Dianetics in the 21st Century

In June 2009, Mr. David Miscavige announced the single most momentous advance in Dianetics technology since the day of its original publication on May 9, 1950.

It was a project personally overseen by Mr. Miscavige for the better part of four years and culminating in the release of materials that would make Dianetics universally accessible.

The goal: to provide every group, Mission and Scientology Church with the ability to deliver Dianetics counseling as L. Ron Hubbard originally intended.

Central to the advance was an audiovisual release that propels the subject and study of Dianetics into the 21st century. Specifically, there are now 32 new films in 15 languages—a total of four and a half hours of visual instruction in the principles and procedures of Dianetics.

As Mr. Miscavige announced to an international audience of Scientologists, “These films are not about Dianetics. Rather, they are films of Dianetics.” To that end, benefiting from the advancements of this visual communications age and computer-generated special effects, the films provide an unprecedented level of comprehension to the viewer.

Like Book One itself (so named as it was the first major work on the subject), the films begin in simplicity and develop into broader application. To ensure full understanding, every facet of Dianetics counseling, called auditing, is described and depicted in several ways, then reintroduced again and again through subsequent films.

The DVD package consists of two discs: The first, How to Use Dianetics, comprises 14 chapters. It opens with the basics and, step by step, presents every concept needed to begin Dianetics therapy.

Once an individual is auditing, Disc Two, Aspects of Auditing, comes into play. Each of its 18 chapters (3 hours total) is a self-contained film expanding upon a single aspect of Dianetics and providing total comprehension relative to auditing.

This tour de force presentation delivers a mastery of Book One never before possible.

Dianetics Seminars

Scientology Churches and Missions deliver Dianetics seminars every week. The kinds of personal change and improvement people feel by the end of the weekend is astounding. If you have read the book, even if it was a long time ago, even if you only read a couple chapters, going to a Scientology org (organization -- i.e. Church) and devoting a full weekend to you, you will go back to work or school Monday with a new perspective, more energetic, more optimistic, and having some fundamental understanding of things that had you confused before--especially about yourself.

The history of Scientology

An interesting article on Helium on Scientology and Dianetics:

by Charles Ray

Scientology, which means the "study of knowledge and truth," is a religion founded in the 1950s by the noted science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard.

Hubbard, born March 13, 1911, in Tilden, Nebraska, traveled widely as a youth, including several trips to Asia. His observation of misery and poverty, especially during his Asia visits, caused him to question the very nature of man.

During the 30s and 40s, he wrote extensively on the subject, but it wasn't until May 1950 that he published Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, which formed the basis for Scientology. Hubbard defined Dianetics as "what the soul is doing to the body." He promoted it as a methodology to help alleviated unwanted emotions, irrational fears, and psychosomatic illness.

Although the initial press run of Dianetics was only 6,000 copies, it became an instant sensation and, to date, has sold over 21 million copies.

Scientology has gained many converts in just over half a century (estimates range from 100 thousand to 10 million adherents worldwide), but it remains one of the most controversial of the 'new' religions. Some of the controversy has been fueled by public actions and statements by high-profile celebrities like Tom Cruise, who are Scientologists.

Scientology holds that man is basically good, but it's their experiences that cause people to do evil. People who think only of their own interests, and ignore how their acts affect others, create interpersonal strife. Individuals achieve enlightenment, according to the basic tenets of the religion, by preserving their spiritual integrity and values, and remaining honest and decent.

While many religions try to solve people's problems for them, Scientology believes in elevating the individual to improve his or her own life. In doing so, the Scientologist naturally reaches out to others.

According to Hubbard's philosophy, the individual is not a body but a spirit. Hubbard called this spirit or soul 'thetan,' from the Greek letter theta, a traditional symbol for thought and life. The thetan, Hubbard maintained, was the person himself, not his name or title - that which is aware of being aware.

The main religious practice of Scientology is a form of spiritual counseling called 'auditing.' It is a precisely codified set of questions used to help the individual become more self aware and thus improve his own condition. The goal of Scientology is to make the individual more spiritually aware and in touch with his thetan, and less dependent on the material universe.

Dianetics the Evolution of a Science

One of the best books on Dianetics is Dianetics: the Evolution of a Science, by L. Ron Hubbard. Here's a quote that shows a lot about the philosophy of Dianetics:

"This is the story of how Dianetics was bu8ild. This, at least, was the approach made to the problem. Dianetics works, which is what an engineer asks, and it works all the time, which is what nature demands of an engineer."

Dianetics: the Originial Thesis

Did you know that Dianetics (Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health) was not the first book L. Ron Hubbard wrote on the subject? In 1948 he actually wrote Dianetics: The Original Thesis. This was a hand-typed manuscript he sent out to some of his friends and they copied it and sent it out and they copies it and sent it out, and by the time this was done people from all over the world were demanding more information on Dianetics. So much so that Ron decided to write a handbook on the subject.

You can find out more of the history of the subject on the Scientology web site, where you can watch a video of David Miscavige on the subject.

New Video Website at Dianetics.org

In celebration of the 58th anniversary of the release of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, the Church of Scientology has now launched a new and interactive portal at Dianetics.org for access to testimonials, videos, excerpts, home extension courses, and all information regarding Dianetics. The launch is also supported by a national television advertising campaign. By doing so, the Church of Scientology is able to provide expansive and enlightening information to those who have questions about Dianetics.

What is Dianetics?

The culmination of decades of research, L. Ron Hubbard's "Dianetics The Modern Science of Mental Health" was released on May 9, 1950. The Dianetics book was an immediate best seller, hitting the NY Times Best Seller List where it remained for 26 consecutive weeks. It sparked a movement which today spans the globe. Further, the principals and techniques of Dianetics laid the groundwork for the Scientology religion.

Dianetics Success

I've been talking to lots of my friends who are studying the Scientology and Dianetics basic books and lectures and the wins they are having are totally cool. Makes sense, cuz that's the kind of wins I'm having too. L. Ron Hubbard was an utter genius, and I'm so glad David Miscavige put the time and manpower into getting these materials published—that are making so much difference in the lives of just about anyone I know who's read them.

Bookathon is Back

This weekend is the next Dianetics bookathon, and everyone is getting ready!

The last one was intense. Incredible competition between Scientology churches and missions for which group was going to get more Dianetics books into the hands of people in their communities than anyone else.

New York has been in the lead most bookathons. But this year it was the surprising Bitza Mission of Moscow that won.

Every time I watch TV or read a magazine or newspaper I am struck by how much people are in need of Dianetics. There isn't anyone I've met yet who doesn't have something about their life that is dragging them down, and which they are really missing a way to remedy. And the work L. Ron Hubbard did that resulted in his release of Dianetics has saved more lives than I can count.

I am thrilled with the quality of the book now and I so appreciate the Mr. David Miscavige did to ensure these books are exactly as LRH intended.

And I'm really looking forward to this weekend's bookathon! We're going to WIN!

Thanks to L. Ron Hubbard, we have a technology anyone can use to

Dianetics and Scientology Books Donated to Philippines Library

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers Goodwill Tour in the Philippines donated a full set of Dianetics and Scientology books to the Cebu City Rizal Library and Museum. An article in the Philippines Sun Star points out:

The major purpose of the Scientology Volunteer Minister Goodwill Tour is to share the knowledge developed by their founder to improve the people’s conditions in life. The books contain comprehensive and substantial information on the way to happiness, and the development of human ability and how to handle life at all times. “Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health,” which is a bestseller for more than half a century already was written by the founder of Scientology. It is the first book about the human mind that has been translated in more than 50 languages.
It also lets readers know that there is free disaster relief training available at the Volunteer Ministers tent.

A religion for the 21st century: Scientology

Great story about Dianetics and Scientology in the North County Times!
What We Believe: The Church of Scientology
By: RUTH MARVIN WEBSTER - Staff Writer
Questions of faith and religion aren't usual topics of Hollywood buzz. Drug use, infidelity, weight and cosmetic surgical procedures are.But any tidbit about the Church of Scientology or its high-profile celebrity believers seem to be the exception, attracting attention at every turn.

First there was the controversy in Germany, which in December declared Scientology unconstitutional and banned it. Then there was the release of Andrew Morton's unauthorized biography of actor Tom Cruise, which coincided with the broadcast of a nine-minute video of Cruise extolling the virtues of the faith, viewed by millions of people around the world before it was pulled from YouTube.

But more than material for late-night talk hosts, the Church of Scientology is the belief system of more than 3.5 million Americans, including more than 18,000 people in the San Diego area, according to Dave Meyer, president of the Church of Scientology of San Diego.
Scientology has been called by some the only major new religion to emerge in the 20th century with no heritage from any mainstream Judeo-Christian faiths. Nor is it connected with the churches of Christian Science or Religious Science. Others, however, say Scientology is not a religion because of its methods, including the practice of charging for some of its services.
'We so respect him'
Scientology grew out of a best-selling book called "Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health," published in 1950. The book includes a concept of God expressed as the urge toward existence as infinity or the supreme being.
The author of "Dianetics" was L. Ron Hubbard, a filmmaker, aviator, adventurer, photographer, philosopher and expert mariner. The founder of the Church of Scientology, he is considered a genius by his followers.
Among those followers are Kathy and Ed Marsh of Escondido. The library in their guesthouse is home to thousands of first edition and signed volumes, many written by Hubbard. The room also contains pieces of Hubbard memorabilia that Ed Marsh, a Scientologist since 1969, has collected over the years, such as a package of Hubbard's favorite Kool cigarettes and his early aviator helmet.
But Scientology is not about worshipping Hubbard, said Meyer, who has been the president of the Church of Scientology of San Diego for the last two years.
"We so respect him (Hubbard) for his deeds and accomplishments ... and for his caring factor," said Meyer.>>

Clear and Aesthetics

One of my favorite quotes from the Dianetics book goes as follows:

The glory and color of childhood vanishes as one progresses into later years. But the strange part of it is that htis glamour and beauty and sensitivity to life are not gone. They are encysted. one of the most remarkable experiences a Clear has is to find, in the process of therapy, that he is recovering appreciation of beauty in the world.
